  • UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight) and CCC Explained for Prime Time RVs

UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight) is a key spec for understanding your Prime Time Manufacturing RV’s real-world load limits. This guide also explains CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity), helping you plan how much weight you can safely carry on top of the unit’s unloaded weight.

    • UVW definition: UVW is the typical weight of the unit as manufactured at the factory, including weight at the axle(s), tongue or pin, and LP Gas.
    • What UVW excludes: UVW does not include cargo, fresh potable water, additional optional equipment, or dealer-installed accessories.
    • CCC calculation: CCC equals GVWR minus UVW, representing the amount of weight available for fresh potable water, cargo, additional optional equipment, and accessories.
    • Fresh water planning: CCC should accommodate fresh potable water at 8.3 lbs per gallon, so water weight directly impacts available capacity.
    • Tank management tip: Before filling the fresh water tank, empty the black and gray tanks to provide more cargo capacity.
    • Safety and ratings: GVWR is the maximum permissible fully loaded weight; GAWR is the maximum permissible weight supported by all axles. Do not exceed GVWR for safety and product performance.

Prime Time Manufacturing RVs are weighed at the manufacturing facility prior to shipping, and a label identifying the actual unit’s UVW and cargo carrying capacity is applied before leaving the facilities. Because load capacity is designated by weight—not volume—you may not be able to use all available space when loading.

If you’re comparing floorplans and want to confirm the exact UVW/CCC and specifications for the model you’re interested in, contact your Prime Time Manufacturing dealer or schedule a viewing to review the details in person.
