We are not a commercial rental outfit. We are a retired couple who rent our van when we are not enjoying it ourselves. We bought a basic cargo van new and had it professionally converted into a self-contained home on wheels. A custom-built kitchen has fridge/freezer; sink with swivel faucet; butcher block countertop; retractable table; ample drawers and cabinets; 2 bench seats/storage units; dimmable lights; ceiling fans; diesel heater; portable propane stove; Laveo dry-flush vacuum toilet. The bedroom has a raised platform bed; full-size memory foam mattress; storage cabinets/shelf; ceiling + wall fans; overhead + bedside reading lights. The "garage" under the bed is a huge, cedar-lined storage space with a heavy duty 50" slide-out easy access tray. Fridge, lights, fans, and water pumps are DC powered by a storage battery, charged while the van is running and via solar panels on the roof; also charged and/or bypassed by connecting a "shore power" plug on the side of the van to any 110-volt wall outlet or 30 amp outlet in a campsite electrical box. AC outlets are powered by a 2000-watt inverter or shore power Despite a roomy interior, the van's exterior footprint is smaller than most RVs so it can access many remote or urban sites that they cannot. It has a backup camera/reverse warning detector; fits easily in standard parking spaces, extending only slightly beyond most cars. Taller travelers should note that the main cabin ceiling height and the bed-length are both 6’ Our extensive personal experience driving and living in the van around the U.S. and Canada - in all seasons and road conditions/surfaces -- has allowed us to test and improve what we have come to see as the most important features for making traveling and living in it as easy and enjoyable as possible . As a result, we have compiled a store of insights and tips for safe, affordable, and fun adventures, which we look forward to sharing with you as you embark upon your own campervan journey

Beautiful Virginia state park; overnight campground on trip to family gathering and visits to Jefferson/Madison/Monroe homes in Charlottesville
Camping in historic oak-hickory forests on the banks of Illinois' beautiful Beaver Dam Lake on way to nearby Gateway Arch NP in downtown St Louis
Music nerds at site of Woodstock Festival, Bethel NY. Equally ok on winding country roads and parking in busy town center of nearby Woodstock itself.
Enjoying a very close encounter with Devil's Tower National Monument, Wyoming. Notice again how easily we fit into a standard parking space.
No problem pulling over on unpaved gravel surface for mandatory photo-op before camping at Indiana Dunes National Park on Lake Michigan.
Very comfortable driving the unpaved roads to campgrounds and sites along the spectacular whale-watching coastline of Nova Scotia, Canada.
Driver's side view at roadside overlook in Badlands National Park, SD.
Custer State Park, SD. More spectacular than many National Parks. Drove easily through narrow mountain tunnels with signs warning "RVs turn back now!"
Solar panels/ceiling fan hoods - compact in closed position, but be careful driving under low hanging vegetation like these shrubs in our driveway!
Great view from the bed in lakeside campground. Late fall trip so no need for the magnetized rear door bug-screens!
Spectacular coastal view from the bedroom while camping in Nova Scotia, Canada.
View of bedroom thru rear doors, showing overhead cabinets, headboard shelf, overhead and bedside reading lights, ceiling and wall mounted fans
Main cabin and front cab from bed headboard angle
View from cab towards bedroom; dining table slides out of the way under bed platform; bench seats/storage areas on either side
Rainy day inside lunch. Van has safety restraints for our dog, Remy. He hates being left at home and we save a fortune on dog-sitting/boarding fees!
Inside view towards bedroom; dining table (leather pull handle) retracted under bed; louvered doors open to access storage cabinets in "garage"
Close-up of retracted dining table with leather strap handle; open view of louvered doors to hinged upper storage cabinet and lower pull-out bin
Kitchen sink with cutting board cover; stainless fridge; drawers/cabinet; butcher-block counter/extension leaf; wire baskets; slide-out storage unit
Front view of butcher-block kitchen unit; stainless steel fridge; leather-handled drawers/cabinet/slide-out cannister storage unit
Bench seat storage cabinet -- canvas bins for toaster, pots, pans, plates, bowls, etc. Heater is in sound-insulated lower section of this cabinet
Laveo vacuum dry-flush toilet (under passenger side bench); no "black water" draining needed; seldom used backup to highway and campground restrooms
"Garage" sliding tray (under bed platform); hinged storage units; camp chairs/tables; saw; food storage bin (accessed via louvred doors in kitchen)
"Garage" tray/bed platform; diesel heater fuel tank (left rear wall); telescoping ladder/first aid kit (L); outdoor shower unit/storage bin (R)
