Welcome back, RVers. Another year is almost over, and I\u2019m sure I\u2019m not alone when I say I can\u2019t believe it! No matter how your 2018 went for you, the time for making those changes you talked about is now. Maybe you want to eat better, finally renovate your living room that\u2019s had the same curtains since the 90s or save enough money for a new car. Either way, though, it\u2019s getting dangerously close to the New Year, so why not start if off right with some RV related resolutions? These actually might be a bit fun to keep, unlike the dreadful \u201cI\u2019m going to start exercising regularly\u201d spiel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve put together a few ideas if you don\u2019t know where to start on your RV Revolution Adventure. Let us know if you have any yourself!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Take Your Time at Each Destination<\/b><\/h2>\n

In other words, take it easy and travel slower this year. RVers tend to try and see as much as they can during their designated travel time, and you\u2019ll find it isn\u2019t as fruitful as taking your time at each place. It can often be more stressful, too, because instead of relaxing and soaking up your current location, you\u2019re worried about which campsite you\u2019ll stop at next, set-up, break-down, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, vow to travel slower. Take breaks on travel days and figure out how the locals live in the area. You\u2019ll find you\u2019ll get much more out of each stop if you slow down.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Visit Places during the Off-Season\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

National and state parks<\/a> can be way too crowded and not enjoyable during their peak seasons. Think about the flexibility your RV offers and take the chance and choose to check these paces out during their off-season. You\u2019ll more than likely have the park almost to yourself, you\u2019ll get first pick at what campground<\/a> you\u2019ll stay it, and there won\u2019t be anyone around to photobomb your pictures. And, if you\u2019re lucky, you\u2019ll save some money because fees are typically cheaper during this time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Go Somewhere New\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

This one may seem a bit obvious to some, but others find their usual destinations or campgrounds and go only there. Why not find a new place this year? There\u2019s gotta be a place or two you have in mind! Still haven\u2019t been to the Grand Canyon? Make 2019 the year you finally pack up and go. Or maybe there\u2019s a more local, smaller park you\u2019ve been dying to visit. Let your RV do what it does best and take you on some amazing and unforgettable adventures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t Always Have a Plan<\/b><\/h2>\n

Being an incredibly organized \u201cmust have a plan\u201d person myself, I know how much of a challenge this could be for a person. One of the best parts about owning an RV is the flexibility they offer. Take advantage of this and try to be as spontaneous as you can when you\u2019re out on the road. When you\u2019re plotting your trip, leave some time for detours and unplanned spots along the way. You might find the detours to be the best part of the trip after all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Camp With a New Group<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019ve never camped with a certain part of the family or with a certain friend group, give it a try! Invite them for a weekend trip to a local campsite and spend some time with people you care for. It can also make it a bit easier when it comes to planning out activities or cooking for the group. You might also find some common interests between you and your family members that you haven\u2019t been able t spend much one on one time with before.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Give Your RV a Rest and Try Independent Parking<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Otherwise known as Boondocking<\/a>, independent parking mean you\u2019re prepared to camp out without or with limited amenities. It\u2019s definitely not for everyone, but it can totally be worth it if you prepare. Try boondocking to escape the noise, guidelines and costs of RV campgrounds while still having the essentials at your fingertips. And you\u2019d get to fall asleep and wake up to the sight of nature. Does it get any better than that?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fire Time\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

It might seem like another silly or obvious resolution for some, but for others, it means slowing down and truly spending time with people you love. Sure you hike, bike and travel with these same people, but you\u2019re always doing something. A campfire offers warmth and a beautiful sight, but taking the time to do nothing but sit and talk to the people you\u2019re with is irreplaceable. Take some time to relax by a campfire, and you\u2019re camping trip might be better than the last.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep Up With Maintenance\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n

To put it simply, take better care of all your RV equipment and the RV itself. Sometimes, maintenance tends to get pushed to the bottom of the list, but all it takes is a bit of regular maintenance in order for you to get the most out of your RV. It will also pay off to invest in some accessories, like a cover, tire covers, roof and windshield covers to protect the outside of your motorhome. You can also clean and wax it regularly to keep it looking its best.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Spend Less Time Online<\/b><\/h2>\n

This is a huge <\/i>one, guys. Why spend all this time planning a trip, getting your RV ready for the road, packing your bikes and camping gear just to spend your time plugged into a video game or Facebook? These days, it\u2019s so easy to get sucked into the internet, but make a resolution to stay away from the internet when you\u2019re camping. Sure, post your photos online, but don\u2019t do it while you\u2019re around that campfire we talked about earlier. Make a conscious effort to stay offline during camping trips. Live in the moment!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
