Here are some places we think you should consider adding to your list!

Horseshoe Bend, Arizona

One of the best places to photograph the Grand Canyon is without a doubt Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona. Here, the Colorado River takes a 180 degree turn in the shape of a horseshoe. Take a trip up to the rim and wait for sunset to capture a photo that words cant describe.

Ash Cave, Ohio

If you’re looking for a site to snap a photo that brings you up close and personal with nature, we suggest Ash Cave in Ohio! The greenery contrasts the hollow rock perfectly, and when the rainy season rolls around, you can even catch sight of a small waterfall flowing over the rim of the cave.

Sequoia National Park, California

One of the most spectacular places in the US to capture nature is Sequoia National Park in California. Here you can find not only the world’s largest tree, but also 4 other of the top ten largest trees in the world. The brightly colored trunks create a unique opportunity to photograph this forest that is teeming with life.

Zabriskie Point, California

This unique landscape in Death Valley National Park was created by years of erosion and has left behind a beautiful scene. If you want to capture an absolutely incredible photo, arrive at the point for the sunrise and snap some shots as the sun leaks through the peaks!

Crystal Lake, Colorado

Buring in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, this small lake gives visitors the perfect place to take a photo. Because the water is so calm, the surface becomes reflective. Visit in the middle of the day to snap a wide shot and capture the mountains and their reflection in the water.

Great Falls, Virginia

The Great Falls National Park is a great place to capture a spectacular view of a rocky waterfall. Visit in any season and you will leave with a different sight than the season before. Snap a shot of the falls frozen over or visit in the rainy season where only a few rocks are visible and the water is flowing powerfully.

Trail Ridge Road, Colorado

Drive this scenic highway to get views like no other. As it travels through the mountains of Colorado, it offers endless photo opportunities. Mountaintops, hills, calleys, trees, waterfalls, spectacular sunsets and stars at night all can be found along this road!

Lower Antelope Canyon, Arizona

Considered on of the most famous spots for photography in the US, the Lower Antelope Canyon offers a great capture for everyone! Shoot a photo down here and watch as the colors of the canyon come to life. Vibrant reds and oranges are featured, while shadows distort the colors into a deep purple. You are guaranteed to leave here with a spectacular photo!

Bisti Badlands, New Mexico

The Bisti Badlands of New Mexico feature steep rock formations shaped by erosion that create a priceless picture. With a landscape that appears otherworldly, anywhere you choose to take a photo here is sure to produce a unique capture.

Point Reyes, California

Point Reyes National Seashore lies on the coast of California and offers a wide variety of photo opportunities due to the changing landscape. Visit the lighthouse and snap a shot of the rocky cliffs and ocean below, or venture into the back country and experience the over 1,500 species of flora and fauna. Everywhere in this park gives a photographer a new snapshot!

Mississippi Coast

After Hurricane Katrina ripped through the Gulf Coast in 2005, the beaches on the Mississippi coast were left in shreds. Today, you can still find the remains of old piers and boats that were destroyed in the storm. This gives photographers the chance to capture the reality of the damage the storm caused.

Big Bend National Park, Texas

Once containing America’s largest ranch, the Homer Wilson Ranch, Big Bend National Park is now known for how desolate the area is. However, the lack of light pollution that comes with the vast vacancy creates incredible chances to capture sunsets and the night sky. We suggest visiting the park near sundown so you can start shooting as the sun falls behind the surrounding mountains.

Luray Caverns, Virginia

Underneath the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia lies the largest caverns on the East Coast, Luray Caverns. Inside, visitors can find cathedral sized rooms and crystal clear pools. Hear the sounds of the world’s only Stalacpipe Organ and capture the towering stone columns with your camera. You are sure to enjoy snapping a photo here!

Beacon Hill, Massachusetts

If you’re looking for a beautiful photo spot that contains history, Beacon Hill in Massachusetts should be your next stop! Shoot down the brick alleyways and cobblestone streets to create a photo that brings people back to colonial America.

Plimoth Plantation, Massachusetts

Who wouldn’t want a chance to capture history through their own lens? At Plimoth Plantation, photographers get the chance to do exactly that! Snap some shots what life was like in this original ocean side colony for settlers that would later become known as the Pilgrims.

Multnomah Falls, Oregon

As America’s second largest year round waterfall, this should be a must-shoot on every photographers list! The vibrant greenery that surrounds the falls and the Benson Bridge that crosses over create the perfect picturesque setting for this waterfall!

Minnehaha Falls, Minnesota

If you’re looking to shoot a waterfall that is more secluded, we suggest taking some photos at Minnehaha Falls. This smaller 59 foot waterfall cascades into a rock pool and is bordered by a limestone pit. The falls change every season and allows each photographer to capture their own unique photo.

Snake River Overlook, Wyoming

While Grand Teton National Park offers plenty of photogenic landscapes, this one is by far our favorite. This overlook gives you a view of the river, the fores, the grasslands and the mountain range all in one beautiful shot! We suggest taking your photo right after the sun sets behind the mountains to capture the rainbow of colors that spread across the sky at dusk.

Mingus Mill, North Carolina

For a variety of great photos, we suggest taking a hike into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park during the fall. The changing of the leaves creates a colorful background for any photo. One of the best spots to take pictures in the park is the Mingus Mill which is an old wooden mill that uses a water-powered turbine to power the entire building. Photos taken here portray the life of early American life in the East.

Castle Valley, Utah

Some people love the sights of the Southwest but want to avoid the crowd and shoot in an area that isn’t as heavily populated. If this is you, we suggest taking a short trip out to Castle Valley near Moab, Utah. The red rock formations are just as stunning and offer great shots to every photographer! Shoot down by the river or in by Castle Rock for the classic canyon photo look.

Everglades, Florida

As one of the largest wildlife reserves in the country, Everglades National Park is the perfect place to photograph swampy wetlands and the vibrant wildlife. Get up close and personal with an alligator or capture the beauty that you can find in the largest subtropical wilderness in the US. Here, countless creative shots await you and your camera!

Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota

Capture the beauty of the plains and the native wildlife of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and you are sure to love the results! Photograph the wild horses that roam the Black Hills or simply shoot nature. Here, there is always an opportunity for an action nature shot, so don’t miss you chance!

Glacier National Park, Montana

One of the best areas to take photos in the US is Glacier National Park in Montana. From wildflowers to snow capped mountains, there is a nature scene every photographer is sure to love here! We suggest taking some shots here in the spring time to catalog the park’s full spectrum of beauty.

Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico

As one of the largest underground cavern systems in the US, Caverns National Park contains over 100 caves. With each cave holding a new sight and unique arrangement, photographers are offered a new canvas around every corner. While it may not be the typical scene for photography, this area will leave you with fascinating images that show off your skill!

Chincoteague, Virginia

Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is an area in Virginia where wild stallions and mustangs run free and beach scenes are unlike any other. Capture some shots on Assateague Island of the world-famous ponies in their natural habitat. The beach grass and blue waters are the perfect backdrop for all of your photos!

Highlands, West Virginia

While it may not be one of the more known areas of it’s mountain range, the Highlands in West Virginia offer photographers amazing shots. Hike or drive to the top of one and capture views of what seem like endless sets of rolling green hills.

Monument Valley, Utah and Arizona

Monument Valley is known for its starring role in plenty of movies, but we think it is just as spectacular in still shots too! Capture the various red rock formations that are scattered throughout the plains. We suggest shooting here at sunrise or sunset so you can get creative shots with the sun leaking through the rocks!

Acadia National Park, Maine

With a landscape that ranges from rocky seashores to beautiful forests, photographers will never be bored in Acadia National Park. The colorful landscape and wide variety of nature make this area a great spot for professionals and amateurs alike!

Niagara Falls, New York

While Niagara Falls is most likely on everyone’s must-take photo lists, the pictures here become especially stunning in the springtime. Blooms bring color and life to the landscape around the falls and the melting ice changes structure every day. Focus on the flowers and use the falls as you backdrop like this photographer did, or simply capture the rainbow of colors in a wide shot of the full falls. You can’t go wrong with any photo you take here!

Hawksbill Crag, Arkansas

This out pouching rock formation on a mountain in Arkansas has quickly gained many photographers’ attentions. Snap a picture with just the scenery or grab some daring friends to be models. Either way, the shots you leave with give photographers an epic memoir of the area!

Planning a picture perfect vacation?
