And one of the best ways to enjoy these wonders is on the 300 mile Catamount Trail, the longest cross country ski trail in America. The trail is divided into 26 sectors, each taking about a day to cover. Roughly half of the route follows packed snowmobile trials and groomed ski center trails. The other half provides glorious access to Vermont's pristine backwoods.

Alongside the beauty of Vermont's natural wonders, you will find attractions rich in colonial history and culture. You won't want to miss the Old Constitution House in Windsor, or the Hubbardton Battlefield State Historic Site. Chimney Point on Lake Champlain in Vermont is one of the earliest, mostly intensely settled, and most strategic sites in the Champlain Valley, with human habitation going back as far as 7,500 years.
