I think I would prefer a normal bike... as long as you don't have to carry heavy items around it's a good thing! It's more problematic if you want to use the vehicle as a transportation for heavy stuff... the golf cart makes sense to me, that's true! I wonder if an e-bike or a segway would also be an option?
